Salkić: Incidents in Srebrenica and Višegrad are civilizational defeat

FENA Press release

BANJA LUKA, January 7 (FENA) - Vice-President of the entity of RS Ramiz Salkić condemned the incidents and provocations reported yesterday in the Srebrenica and Višegrad area.

He warned that such behavior of individuals causes the greatest harm to true believers.

“Incidents of groups and individuals on Christmas Day and the celebration of a religious holiday, by insulting and disrespecting your neighbors are for every condemnation. The behavior of those who call themselves faithful in Srebrenica, Bratunac and Višegrad, certainly does the greatest harm to those who are true believers and who celebrate the holiday in peace surrounded by family and friends,” said Salkić.

These vehicles driving around, according to Salkić's cabinet, are not intended to celebrate the holidays, but to provoke, insult and intimidate, “show the state of the society in which we live, which is produced and shaped by the authorities, the education system, the media and the Serbian Orthodox Church in this entity. "

“Driving through the Potočari Memorial Center playing loud music, where the victims of genocide against Bosniaks of the UN Srebrenica "protected zone" are buried show that the ideology of those who committed the genocide is alive and is still ongoing,” said Salkić.

The footage from Srebrenica and Višegrad is even more devastating when, he added, we have in mind that these incidents are repeated from year to year, without the adequate reaction of the entity police.

“It is also a civilizational defeat that we have never had any reaction from the entity government, but also from the opposition, the media, intellectuals, the Serbian Orthodox Church and non-governmental organizations in this entity, giving the impression that such incidents are silently approved. I urge the RS Government to finally understand and begin to act and implement the policy on the fact that this entity is not a Serb, but an entity of all citizens, and to provide security and respect for all citizens,” said Salkić.

If these incidents go unpunished, it is certain that they will be repeated in the future, which opens the possibility of escaping control someday.

“We expect the RS Ministry of Interior to inform the public about what has been done about these and other incidents that spread national, religious hatred and intolerance against Bosniaks in this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said RS Vice President Ramiz Salkić.
