SARAJEVO, January 7 (FENA) – More than 1.544.452 tourists visited Bosnia and Herzegovina in the first eleven months of 2019, which is 12 percent more and 3.178.416 overnight stays, which is 10.7 percent more compared to the same period in 2018.
The number of overnight stays of domestic tourists increased by 8.7 percent in the period January - November 2019, while the number of overnight stays of foreign tourists increased by 11.5 percent compared to the same period in 2018.
Domestic tourists accounted for 27.6 percent of all overnight stays, while foreign tourists accounted for 72.4 percent.
In the structure of overnight stays of foreign tourists, most tourists came from: Croatia (12.2 percent), Serbia (8.2 percent), Saudi Arabia (6.8 percent), China and Slovenia (5.2 percent each), Germany and Italy (5.0 percent each), Turkey (4.7 percent), United Arab Emirates (3.9 percent), Poland (3.8 percent) and the United States (3.0 percent) 63 percent. Tourists from other countries accounted for 37 percent of overnight stays, according to the BiH Agency for Statistics.
As regards of the length of stay of foreign tourists in BiH, Malta had the highest with an average of 4.7 nights, followed by Kuwait with 3.4 nights, Ireland with 3.2 nights and Iceland with 3.0 nights.
By type of accommodation facility, the highest number of overnight stays was recorded in hotels and similar accommodation with a share of 92.3 percent.
