MOSTAR, January 6 (FENA) – Political scientist Marin Čuljak told FENA that the result of the second round of elections for the President of the Republic of Croatia was expected, but a slight surprise, he believes, is the difference with which SDP's Zoran Milanović defeated HDZ candidate Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović.
“For all those who follow election processes more seriously, this result was actually expected. On the other hand, perhaps a slight surprise is the difference that Milanović won,” Čuljak said.
Asked about the attitude of the Republic of Croatia towards BiH after the victory of Zoran Milanović, Čuljak said he does not expect any major changes.
“My expectations are that the relations between the Republic of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina will not change significantly, because I think that all political structures in the Republic of Croatia, but also in BiH, are aware of the need for mutual cooperation. This need is both economically and politically, and I think that Milanović is aware of this situation and that in the context of these election results, the relation between the two countries will not change much,” said Čuljak.
He recalled that at the time when Milanović was prime minister of the Republic of Croatia, the Croatian authorities had a fairly clear and positive attitude towards Bosnia and Herzegovina.
