SARAJEVO, January 3 (FENA) - The BiH Statistics Agency, in cooperation with the entity statistics institutes, will be conducting a continuous Labor Force Survey throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina as of 2020.
“So far, the statistical institutions have conducted the survey once a year, for a period of two weeks. As of this year, the survey is conducted continuously throughout the year, and the results will be published quarterly in the form of a statistical release. That way, all those who plan employment policies will have up-to-date labor market data for Bosnia and Herzegovina,” stated the State Statistics Agency.
The survey, starting on January 6, will be conducted by interviewers accredited by the BiH Statistics Agency, the FBiH Statistics Institute and the RS Statistics Institute, on a representative sample of randomly selected households for each quarter.
The purpose of the Labor Force Survey, in accordance with the methodological rules and principles of the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the methodological recommendations of the European Statistical Office (EUROSTAT), is to obtain data on the basic labor characteristics of the population in Bosnia and Herzegovina and to make an estimate of the total labor force. The number of unemployed, obtained through the Labor Force Survey will be the only internationally comparable indicator of unemployment in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
