Bećirović: Vučić and Vulin paving the way for The Hague with defense strategy

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, December 29 (FENA) - A delegate in the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly and SDP BiH Vice-President Denis Bećirović thinks Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Serbian Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin are paving the way for The Hague, and definitely not for Mini-Schengen.

“The response of political forces that advocate an independent, indivisible and democratic Bosnia and Herzegovina to the adoption of Serbia's Defense and National Security Strategy must not be shallow and day-to-day. It is a very serious threat to the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is contained in an official act of the highest legislative body of Serbia. To make things worse, the threat comes from the only country in Europe that has been globally convicted of violating the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide,” Bećirović stated in a media release.

He emphasized that the adoption of the Strategy for the Defense and National Security of Serbia is an unveiled expression of Serbia's large-scale claims to the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. As Bećirović added, with such a destructive policy, Vučić and Vulin are reaffirming Serbian hegemonism from the time of the Slobodan Milošević regime.

Vučić and Vulin, close associates of Šešelj and Milošević, have now fully revealed their intentions with this strategy.

“It is now obvious that the Serbian regime of Aleksandar Vučić is not on the path of creating Mini-Schengen in the Western Balkans, but on the path that eventually ends in The Hague,” said Bećirović.

He believes that this Serbia is not a state with which it is possible to develop friendly relations at this moment.

Serbian officials should be asked the following question publicly: How would Serbia behave if its neighbors (Croatia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina) consider parts of its territory as areas of special security and defense in their defense strategies, added Bećirović.

He believes that a comprehensive analysis of Serbia's policy towards the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the post-Dayton period undoubtedly shows that Serbia is still systematically preparing to break up the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He noted that it is high time for Serbian officials to give up on their conquering dreams and hegemonic politics, and help people in both Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina to start living their lives and open an era of peace, respect and progress, SDP BiH announced.
