ZENICA, December 26 (FENA) - Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Amelia Achmad Yani, visited the Zenica City Administration today, where she spoke with Mayor of Zenica, Fuad Kasumović.

Kasumović said that he spoke with the ambassador on the topics of economic and cultural cooperation and possibly twinning of the City of Zenica with one city from Indonesia.

“In March next year, a folklore group from Indonesia will visit the Bosnian National Theater Zenica to present us the customs and culture of Indonesia.

In April, a meeting between Zenica's businesses and possibly, from other parts of BiH, will take place with Indonesia's business people,” Kasumovic announced.

Ambassador Yani, who also visited the Zenica University (UNZE) as part of her visit to Zenica today, where she opened the Indonesian Corner with Rector Damir Kukić and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Harun Hodžić, said that this was a continuance of cooperation that has been established with the universities in Sarajevo and Mostar.

She recalled that four students from Indonesia's Achmad Yani University are currently staying at UNZE, who will spend a month as part of a program of exchange and mobility of teachers and students between the two universities.

“We want to give this impetus to this cooperation, so we had the initiative for twinning of Zenica and the city of Bandu. It is a city on the island of Java, where the Non-Aligned Movement was founded, and, as everyone knows, the leaders of the then Yugoslavia and Indonesia played a key role,” said Ambassador Yani, who announced more intensive cooperation in the fields of education, culture and tourism.

The signing of an agreement on twinning of the two cities, which is due to happen next year, will open space for other forms of cooperation,” Ambassador Yani pointed out.

She added that next year she expects more students to come from Indonesia, as well as students and teachers of the University of Zenica to travel to Indonesia, but also that the Indonesian corner at UNZE will be richer for new, handmade items originating from Indonesia.

In order to facilitate communication between citizens and businesses of the two countries, Ambassador Yani announced opening of a direct charter flight from Sarajevo to Jakarta or some other destination in Indonesia, which proves to be most desired.
