SARAJEVO, December 19 (FENA) - The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Deposit Insurance Agency of BiH (AOD) signed a Memorandum of Understanding today that is designed to develop BiH's secure and sound financial system.
USAID Mission Director in BiH Nancy Eslick and Director of the Deposit Insurance Agency Krešimir Šoljić signed the Memorandum of Understanding. This document defines the cooperation of the two agencies and the continued participation of USAID as an advisory member of the BiH Deposit Insurance Agency Board.
Expressing her satisfaction with the Memorandum, the USAID Director reminded that the cooperation of the two agencies is successful.
“This agreement we signed today shows that we will make great projects on the path of BiH towards full alignment with international deposit insurance standards, and create the confidence of BiH citizens in their banking system which will be matched with any other system in Europe,” the USAID Director emphasized.
Krešimir Šoljić, Director of the Deposit Insurance Agency, stressed that today's signing of the Memorandum of Understanding is a continuation of successful cooperation between the BiH Deposit Insurance Agency and USAID, which has lasted for more than two decades.
According to him, AOD has successfully implemented numerous projects with partners from USAID during this period, aiming to further improving the deposit insurance program and aligning with European standards and best international practices.
“We hope that the expected adoption of the Law on Deposit Insurance in the banks of BiH will complete efforts and progress that we have made towards harmonizing our deposit insurance program,” said Šoljić, Deposit Insurance Agency stated.
