SARAJEVO, December 18 (FENA) - The House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has adopted FBiH budget for 2020 amounting to KM 4.954.392.401.
Compared to 2019, the adopted budget is higher by 83 percent or KM 2.25 billion, and the main reason for the increase is the integration of the FBiH Institute for Pension and Disability Insurance (PIO Institute) into the FBiH budget, whose financial plan for 2020 amounts to about KM 2.4 billion.
This implies that the income from the payment of pension and disability insurance contributions, which is the income of this institution, as of January 1, 2020, will be an integral part of the FBiH budget, and the payment of pension and disability insurance contributions will be made to the FBiH Single Treasury Account.
This was explained as a result of continued growth in direct tax revenues and contributions due to continued economic growth and fiscal discipline.
Pensions for December 2019 will be paid from the account of the FBiH PIO Institute, while pensions for January 2020 will be paid from the budget of the Federation of BiH.
If the budget is implemented as planned, the public debt of the Federation of BiH will be reduced by an additional KM 372.3 million.
The Federation of BiH's budget for 2020 has been drafted on the basis of macroeconomic projections, respecting the less optimistic macro projections of the surrounding countries, EU countries on the one hand, and respecting and adhering to the principles of restrictive budgetary policy and limiting the growth of budgetary spending on the other.
FBiH Budget Proposal is also accompanied by a set of laws concerning the integration of the PIO Institute into the treasury operations, which was also adopted today by the House of Representatives.
In order for these laws, as well as the Budget Proposal, to enter into force, they must be adopted by the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will be discussed at the session convened for tomorrow.
