BANJA LUKA, December 17 (FENA) - The Museum of Contemporary Art of RS in Banja Luka (MSU RS) will be thoroughly restored as part of a reconstruction project worth KM 700,000.

The renovation of this cultural institution will be funded by the Office of the President of RS and the United States Embassy in BiH.

The first phase of renovation will begin next spring, which will include the reconstruction of the roof and the adaptation of the attic into a public library.

The second phase involves the renovation of the facade with ambient lighting, which will then be followed by the renovation of the interior as well as the renovation of the former platform of the railway station into a space adapted for the modern-day needs,” said Sarita Vujković, Director of MSU RS.

The US Ambassador to BiH Eric Nelson said that the US Ambassador's Fund for the Protection of Cultural Heritage will donate 255,000 KM for the reconstruction of one of the most beautiful buildings of its kind in BiH. With these funds, the first phase of the museum's renovation will be funded.

“The RS Museum of Contemporary Art is a cultural treasure and this project is the fulfillment of a very ambitious vision.

Museums are not just buildings, they should be a place for people to gather, socialize and interact in the community,” said Ambassador Nelson.

Restoration of the museum will begin next year when this cultural institution marks half a century of existence, and the building itself enters its 130th year of existence.
