Increased concentration of pollutants in the air in the Sarajevo Canton

SARAJEVO, December 15 (FENA) - Measurements of the concentration of pollutants in the air in the Sarajevo Canton show a significant increase in average daily concentration of particulate matter in the air - PM10, prescribed for the level of preparedness (50 µg / m3), according to which the stations measured the following values: City Hall 67, Otoka 64 and Ilijaš 99 µg / m3.

According to the weather forecast of the FBiH Meteorological Institute, stable weather is expected, with no precipitation, weak winds and with the possibility of temperature inversion, and consequently further deterioration of air quality.

According to the provisions of the Plan of Emergency Measures, the Expert Coordination and Supervision Body has declared an episode of preparedness in all zones in the Sarajevo Canton where the Plan is being implemented, with continued monitoring of the air quality, the SC Press Office said.

An appeal is also being made to the population to reduce the use of motor vehicles.

An unfavorable situation with regard to air quality is expected in the coming days, which can lead to the worsening of the existing health problems with persons with acute respiratory problems.
