MOSTAR, December 12 (FENA) - ‘Aluminij’ workers have asked the Supervisory Board and the Managament of the Company, as well as political structures to present takeover bids for the Mostar-based company.
"More than 350 of us will lose our jobs these days and we do not know if we will ever return to our work at ‘Aluminij’. If there is a realistic offer (Abraham Group offer) to return to work as early as January, one of those responsible will have to explain why such an offer has not already been accepted and is an obstacle to such a plan. As far as we know, the Abraham Group's offer, which the Supervisory Board will consider and make a decision at its meeting on Monday, December 16, does not contain any request for subsidy or preferential electricity price to which the leaders of the Government of the Federation of BiH refer to," Aluminij workers said in a press release.
It is said in a statement that starting the production in the foundry plant does not require large amounts of electricity, and the company's leaders are asked if there is any other plan for ‘Aluminij’ if the Israeli-Chinese group's offer is rejected.
"Bad policies that have run the factory for years should be reported to the judicial authorities. Those who block the continuation of the factory for reasons only known to them will have to submit the report to us. If, after the New Year, we are in our homes and not at work, to which we can probably return soon after the announced layoffs, we will be forced to fight for labor rights. Gentlemen, give us your answers before you bring the situation once again to an escalation that is more than possible. Current but also former employees of Aluminij and our families, are ready to seek the truth in the streets unless the factory is allowed to continue," workers said.
