SARAJEVO, December 12 (FENA) - Minister of Labor, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees of the Sarajevo Canton Malik Garibija believes that unplanned approach to migrant crisis complicates the security and epidemiological situation in the Sarajevo Canton (SC), and if the problem arises, BiH Ministry of Security and the BiH Service for Foreigners' Affairs will be responsible.

Sarajevo Canton Prime Minister Edin Forto, Minister of Interior of the Sarajevo Canton Admir Katica, Minister of Labor, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees Malik Garibija, as well as SC Assembly members Bilsena Šahman (SBB), Elvedin Okerić (NiP) and Admela Hodžić (SDA), met yesterday to discuss the issue of migrant crisis with representatives of the Council of Ministers of BiH and the Ministry of Security of BiH.

Unfortunately, as they said at a press conference after the meeting, they were not satisfied with the outcome of the meeting. Garibija stated that neither the BiH Ministry of Security nor anyone else has any specific plan for receiving migrants.

“Around 750 migrants were transferred to the SC area in the short term. Migrants' health is threatened in Blažuj because there are no toilets or water. There are simply no basic conditions for a decent stay,” Garibija said.

He said that it is not known what the structure of that population is, whether they are single or with families, there is absolutely no plan and that complicates the security situation.

“We call on citizens to stay calm. We will ensure everything in our power to protect lives and property of citizens,” Garibija said.
