SARAJEVO, December 11 (FENA) - BiH Minister of Security Dragan Mektić stated today at a press conference in Sarajevo that 350 people from the Una-Sana Canton were transferred and accommodated in Ušivak, and 300 people in the barracks in Blažuj.

Mektić denied the information that appeared in some media this morning that conditions in Blažuj are bad.

According to him, barracks in Blažuj is the best reception facility for these migrants, of all reception centers in BiH.

“Migrants are inside, not outside somewhere. During the night they were provided with beds, sleeping bags, blankets, food, tea. We are also providing new containers, as well as toilets and heating,” said Mektić.

He pointed out that the facility in Blažuj is indoor facility, migrants are accommodated in a clean and warm place.

He also said that Vučjak was completely closed last night, and today utility services will remove the tents and clean the area.

“I can say that definitely the problem of Vučjak is over, it no longer exists,” said Mektić.

Head of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in BiH Peter Van der Auweraert said that all migrants who were transferred from Vučjak yesterday did so on a voluntary basis.

“We informed them in advance that the authorities had decided to close the camp, that they would no longer be present, so that they had time to leave if they did not want to stay. However, they remained and all were transferred to Sarajevo on a voluntary basis,” Van der Auweraert said.

Speaking about conditions in Blažuj, he noted that Blažuj was not finished as a reception center.

“We are still working on things like getting water, electricity, bringing containers, etc. But these people, for the first time after a while, slept in a warm place. They were provided with warm clothes, they were also medically examined, and now they have three meals a day. Blažuj is not ready as it will be. It will be ready in few weeks, and it is not as good now as it will be. But if you compare Blažuj and Vučjak, they are two completely different things,” Van der Auweraert said.
