Komšić and Džaferović greeted in Kabul with the highest military honors

SARAJEVO, December 10 (FENA) - Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić and the Presidency member Šefik Džaferović met today in Kabul with President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani.

Komšić and Džaferović were greeted at the presidential palace in Kabul with the highest military honors.

Members of the BiH Presidency thanked the President of Afghanistan for his hospitality and they informed him about the ongoing political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

President of Afghanistan thanked them for the participation of members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina in NATO's Resolute Support mission and for their contribution to peacebuilding and stabilization of Afghanistan.

Also, President Ghani informed the members of the BiH Presidency about the situation in Afganistan, the country’s goals, dynamics and results of the reform processes undertaken by the Afghan government.

The two sides expressed mutual interest in sharing the experiences that Bosnia and Herzegovina has had in peacebuilding and post-war reconstruction, as the experiences and lessons learned from our country could be very useful for Afghanistan.

After meeting with the President of Afghanistan, members of the BiH Presidency met with General Giles Hill, Deputy Commander of the Resolute Support mission.

The meeting focused on the security situation and challenges in Afghanistan and the plan of activities of the Resolute Support mission for 2020.

General Hill thanked Bosnia and Herzegovina for its participation in the Resolute Support mission, commending the members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina for their contribution to the mission, putting special emphasis on their professionalism and dedication.

The visit to Kabul continued with a joint lunch of the members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina with Ambassador Nicholas Kay, NATO's senior civilian representative in Afghanistan, the BiH Presidency stated.
