MOSTAR, December 8 (FENA) - Given the fact that the process of forming the BiH Council of Ministers will soon be completed, chances are that both Houses of the Parliamentary Assembly will be functional by the end of this year at the latest, said Deputy Speaker of the Croat People Caucus in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH Bariša Čolak.
"This creates the necessary prerequisites for accelerated reform work, and precondition is precisely the formation of government. Unfortunately, we lost a lot of time, everything could have ended a year ago, and so much work could have been done by now," Čolak said, PR Office of the HDZ BiH announced.
He stressed that HDZ BiH and HNS officials are advocates of BiH's European and Euro-Atlantic path, and that it is necessary to continue reforms crucial to progress. Croatia takes over the presidency of the Council of the European Union next year and that will be the wind at BiH’s back.
"When it comes to internal reforms, they need to be done in almost all sectors. According to some indicators, about one billion euros of credit and other resources are available, most related to infrastructure. This fact alone says that as soon as we ratify agreements and treaties, we will ensure much faster movement, that is, investment in infrastructure, which will contribute to development of other sectors in BiH. We do not have time to waste, and the sooner we all go together and the better we work, the sooner we will solve problems," said Čolak.
He added that it is important to amend the BiH Election Law.
"This is important so that elections in Mostar can be held, on the other hand, so that they can ensure a legitimate election and representation in the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament, as well as a legitimate election of members of the BiH Presidency. This issue can be resolved through legislation no later than May next year," said Čolak.
When it comes to implementation of the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights, Čolak emphasized that this implies amending the BiH Constitution itself, which is a rather challenging issue because, according to him, a qualified majority in the BiH Parliamentary Assembly is needed.
