SARAJEVO, December 3 (FENA) - Representatives of the Ministry of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by Deputy Minister Saša Dalipagić, today met with the Interim Director of the Transport Community Secretariat, Alain Baron.

The meeting focused on the priorities of the work of the Transport Community Secretariat, which aims to open the European Union's transport market to the Western Balkans countries before joining the EU, as well as to assist in the implementation of projects and support the implementation of EU transport policies.

Dalipagić said that the aim of Baron's working visit was to presents the representatives of the BiH institutions dealing with transport and transport structure, all the segments of the agreement between the transport union of the European Union and the countries of Southeast Europe.

“It was emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina made the right move by joining the transport community, because it is very important for our country, which brings it closer to the European Union, that is, European regulations and standards.

Our representatives are involved in the transport community, the Steering Board and the Working Groups in the transport community and work together with all other countries in the Western Balkans,” Dalipagić said.

On this occasion, the Deputy Minister informed Baron about the implementation of the agreement in BiH, then on the activities in transport structure, and announced the application for projects for indicative TNT and a comprehensive network of European corridors.

“This will ultimately allow us to receive some grants from favorable loans for the construction of infrastructure projects. We will apply for projects - Mostar - Široki Brijeg - Grude expressway and further to Split, then the Adriatic - Ionian motorway through BiH, the Una railway, two airports - Tuzla and Mostar, and the Adriatic - Ionian railway corridor, respectively, the Nikšić - Čapljina railway,” said Dalipagić.

He also referred to tomorrow's takeover of the state over its national skies in domestic and international aviation.

“Finally, we are taking over our complete air traffic. The benefits of this are very significant, and one of them is financial. BiH will thus keep around 30 million KM that our country has previously been allowing Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro to charge for this service. Another benefit is that we have trained 69 young controllers over the last three years, which will in future be the basis for the further development of air traffic in BiH,” Dalipagić said.

Interim Director of the Transport Community Secretariat Alain Baron said the goal of the meeting was to review the opportunities for future cooperation and assistance to BiH.

“The transport community has been set up to support countries in the region in order to better prepare themselves for the EU transport market. There are two aspects that we will work on and provide assistance with, and these are related to infrastructure development in the region.

Also, one of the goals of today's meeting is to better understand each other, to listen to what BiH needs, and on the other hand, to inform BiH's representatives about what we can do to help along the way,” Baron said.
