SARAJEVO, December 2 (FENA) - BiH Deputy Foreign Minister Josip Brkić presented today activities of Bosnia and Herzegovina on its path to the European Union at a meeting of diplomats of EU Council’s Working Party on the Western Balkans Region (COWEB) and outlined the progress BiH has achieved in the previous period.
He emphasized that citizens and peoples of BiH are Europeans, that they share same principles and values, and that they want to be part of institutional Europe.
Talking about regional co-operation, he stressed that good neighborly relations and regional co-operation remain a priority of BiH's foreign policy.
On this occasion, he referred to current developments regarding the enlargement of the European Union and expectations from the EU-WB summit in Zagreb in May next year.
In this context, he considers it important for the EU Council to reach conclusions by the end of the year when it comes to the EC Opinion on BiH's application for EU membership, emphasizing the need to maintain credibility, which sends a positive message to the whole region.
During the discussion with representatives of EU Member States, the focus was on reform of the judicial system and expectations of the Report of the EU senior rule of law expert Reinhard Priebe.
Brkić also briefed the attendees on the expected dynamics in terms of government formation in BiH and on the state of migration in BiH. Director of the BiH Directorate for European Integration Edin Dilberović spoke about functioning of the coordination mechanism and the adoption of the Action Plan on the implementation of priorities from the European Commission's Analytical Report and 14 key priorities from the Opinion.
Ambassador Emina Merdan, Head of the Mission of BiH to the European Union, was also present at the event, the BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
