SARAJEVO, November 28 (FENA) - Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in Bosnia and Herzegovina as of today have the opportunity to apply directly for grants as part of another public call for proposals in the field of export-oriented sectors, as part of the EU4Business project supported by the European Union.

The 1.5 million euros grant will help improve the innovative capacity of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises to boost exports and employment, it was announced today at the EU Info Center in Sarajevo.

Gilles Rebattet, Head of Operations for Economic Development, Infrastructure and Natural Resources at the EU Delegation to BiH, said that micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in BiH will be able to improve their competitiveness thanks to the support provided by EU4Business project.

“Together with the previously launched call for export-oriented partnerships, the total EU grants to strengthen BiH companies are worth about 4.5 million euros from the EU4Business project,” Rebattet said.

He added that they expect these funds to help create new jobs and, thanks to the use of business innovation, increase exports by more than 15 percent.

EU4Business Project Manager (GIZ) Nils Wetzel said the project ideas to be supported under this call relate to the metalworking and mechanical engineering or woodworking industries. Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises registered in the plastics and electrical and information and communication technologies sectors can also apply under this call if they implement projects in the targeted sectors.

All legal entities from BiH belonging to the category of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises can apply on request. The maximum grant is 100,000 euros per project and the applicant's own contribution required is at least in the amount of 50 percent of the total eligible cost of the proposed project. The duration of the proposed projects can be four to twelve months.

The public call is open from 28 November this year to 3 February 2020.

The EU4Business project, with a total of 10 million euros, is intended to boost economic growth and job creation in BiH, develop competitiveness and innovate in selected sectors.

The total value of the project is 16.1 million euros and is jointly funded by the European Union (EUR 15 million) and the Federal Republic of Germany (EUR 1.1 million).

The project is implemented jointly by GIZ, ILO and UNDP, from April 2018 to March 2022.
