Šarović - Ivantsov: Increased export from BiH to Russia

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, November 19 (FENA) – BiH Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Mirko Šarović met with Russian Ambassador to BiH Petar Ivantsov today. They discussed the volume of trade, and in particular the increased export of fruit from Bosnia and Herzegovina to Russia.

"The system of control and export of fruit has been significantly improved and there is an increase in exports to the Russian Federation. We also expect to obtain a permit for the export of food of animal origin to this large and significant market as we have met all the standards and requirements of the Russian Federation. I believe that we have made enough progress because the EU, which requires high standards, has already allowed us to export most types of food," said Minister Šarović.

The interlocutors welcomed the joint start of the Energy Working Groups between Russia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will be engaged next month to address key issues between the two countries, such as the ability to supply BiH with gas through new pipelines, and repayment of debt to the Russian Federation for gas supply for the period 1991-1995.

Minister Šarović announced that he would call on the competent representatives of the entities to try to bring their views closer, noting that it was time to set clear deadlines for resolving the issue of gas debt, the BiH Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations stated.
