ISTANBUL / SARAJEVO, November 19 (FENA) - The Ombudspersons of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nives Jukić, Ljubinko Mitrović and Jasminka Džumhur and Turkish Ombudsman Şeref Malkoç signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Istanbul today.
The aim of the Memorandum of Understanding is to create organizational conditions for cooperation of the two institutions in the field of protection of citizens' rights, processing of appeals and other activities related to tasks and purposes of each of them, and thus contribute to protection of human rights and freedoms.
The Memorandum establishes a framework for development of partnership cooperation between the two countries through various activities and assistance in promotion and protection of human rights and freedoms of citizens, as well as the exchange of information and mutual consultation in the implementation of projects and programs, organizing mutual visits, internships, training, workshops, and other activities.
It stipulates that the cooperation will be based on the principles of partnership, transparency, accountability, joint planning and coordination of activities, mutual interest, mutual information and autonomy of both parties, the Human Rights Ombudsman/Ombudsmen of BiH stated.
