MOSTAR, November 19 (FENA) - The 28th anniversary of the founding of an unrecognized geopolitical entity, the so-called “Croatian Community of Herceg-Bosna” was marked on Monday night by laying wreaths and lighting candles at a solemn academy in Mostar.
The ceremony was also attended by the HDZ and HNS BiH President Dragan Čović, who said the “establishment of the Croatian Community of Herzeg-Bosna (HZHB), succeeded by the then Croatian Republic of Herceg-Bosna (HRHB), was a necessity.”
“The Croatian Community of Herzeg-Bosna, was a response of the politically aware Croat people to the inability of any of the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina to function at that time, it was the answer for the preservation of BiH as well, but certainly the Croat people in BiH. We can testify that the institutions of Herzeg-Bosna in the executive, legislative and political authorities were the basis for the establishment of Bosnia and Herzegovina also, and in many elements, we still cherish the elements of Herzeg-Bosna,” Čović said.
He added that “here, are many others who have not achieved their war visions and goals, and who thus now have the opportunity to comment on the Croatian Community and the Croatian Republic of Herceg-Bosna.”
“I will once again thank the founders of the HZHB, because if it were not for them, I am sure that we would not be here as Croats and the constituent people in BiH today. And even now, 28 years since that time, we have to worry about the legitimacy of representation,” said Čović.
