MOSTAR, November 17 (FENA) – The 27th anniversary of the formation of the 4th Corps of the Army of the Republic Bosnia and Herzegovina was marked today in Mostar with laying of flowers and saying Al-Fatiha prayer at Mostar's cemetery and a solemn ceremony at the National Theater.
BiH Presidency Member Šefik Džaferović attended today’s anniversary and said that the establishment and operation of the 4th Corps of the Army of the RBiH is most significant for Mostar and Herzegovina, but that it is also very important for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"The 4th Corps of the Army of the RBiH defended this part of Herzegovina, and the question is what would have happened to Bosnia and Herzegovina if things had developed differently. Today we pay our respect to Shaheeds (martyrs), to those we owe for the freedom we now live in. While we are alive, we will never be able to repay them, but above all, we need to take care of their families, Shaheed families, disabled war veterans, demobilized combatants and do everything we can to bring their status to a satisfactory state," said Džaferović.
He stressed that it is very important to continue fighting today for what the 4th Corps of the Army of the RBiH and the entire Army of the RBiH were fighting, and that is a complete and democratic BiH.
"We will build a complete and democratic BiH and we will never give up on that goal. We, who are alive today and future generations, will strive for this goal, that is, a complete democratic BiH, a state of equal peoples who can normally live no matter in what part of BiH they live," said BiH Presidency Member Šefik Džaferović.
Flowers were also laid by a delegation of BiH Presidency Chairman Željko Komšić, representatives of the Coordination of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Combatants' Associations, the FBiH Ministry of Veterans Affairs, the Second Infantry Ranger Regiment of the BiH Armed Forces, the Cantonal Ministry of Veterans Affairs, the Speaker of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Assembly, as well as families of martyrs and numerous citizens.
