SARAJEVO, November 12 (FENA) – Agricultural and agribusiness development program FARMA II, a continuation of earlier joint agricultural support activities supported by USAID and the Embassy of Sweden, launched in January 2016, has supported more than 1.300 private sector organizations through training, study tours, promotion, certification and many other activities.
More than 200 public sector institutions and organizations participated in training courses and training programs through this program.
Results of the latest review of USAID / Sweden FARMA II project stated that this project has supported BiH institutions in drafting and adoption of the Framework document of the Strategic Plan for Rural Development of BiH, and with the support of the project and through cooperation of relevant BiH institutions and private sector secured the approval of the European Commission for the export of chicken products and eggs in the EU countries.
Farmers' organizations that received FARMA II support through grants and / or technical support realized more than KM 46.9 million of investments in the agricultural sector, created 811 new jobs, and recorded a significant increase in sales compared to 2015 from 23.95 percent and export growth of 53.39 percent.
The project continues with its activities in 2020, when the realization of grants is expected to continue, but also numerous activities related to promotion and increase of sales, diversification, product development and increase of export to the markets of the region and the world, it is said in a statement from USAID/FARMA II project.
