BANJA LUKA, November 11 (FENA) - BiH Minister of Security, Dragan Mektić, has accused BiH Presidency Member Milorad Dodik of lying and denying that the BiH Council of Ministers, or the BiH Ministry of Security, has no plan for the migrant crisis.
"When they made an empty shell from RS, people are leaving, and now they have to demolish BiH. I'm not for that. It is no problem for Dodik to demolish BiH, as he has a villa in Belgrade. I have tied my fate and my family here, I have no villa in Belgrade, Cyprus, Vienna ... like some politicians and I have no place than this one here, as well as the vast majority of people that have no alternative," Mektić said.
He said that at each session of the Council of Ministers, they had an agenda item related to the problem of migration, but that Dodik did not propose any measures to prevent migrants from entering the eastern border of BiH.
"Several times the BiH Presidency has requested that they submit an operational plan for managing the migrant crisis, and we have forwarded it to the BiH Presidency, but none of these measures has passed. We have problems with the BiH Border Police, we are lacking about 500 police officers and the first measure was to fill the missing staff. However, the BiH Presidency, as the budget proponent, did not approve a budget increase for the Border Police or for solving the migration problems," said Mektić.
The problem is also the lack of equipment of the Border Police compared to neighboring countries.
Mektić recalls that he also sought the participation of the BiH Army, whose members would not be armed and would be subordinate to the Border Police and focused solely on combating illegal migration.
"Milorad Dodik did not allow this measure either," Mektić said, adding that Dodik was against engaging FRONTEX, an EU institution for border protection and fight against illegal migration, on the BiH border.
His third proposed measure, such as protecting the BiH border by putting wire in some places, was not accepted, although he allegedly had the support of foreign donors.
He said that it was only partly allowed that police is assisting the Border Police of BiH, therefore 104 members of the RS Ministry of Interior are currently engaged because RS authorities do not want members of other police forces in their territory.
"It is not true that I made an agreement under which the FBiH Police should come to the RS, and that a meeting was held at which the Director of Border Police was pressured to introduce the FBiH Police in the RS,” said the BiH Minister of Security.
He also accused Dodik of not allowing to share DNA data, a database of registered vehicles, and fighting crime and corruption.
"He does not allow BiH to integrate into Europe," Mektić said.
