Izetbegović: More fighters left to foreign battlefields from France than BiH

SARAJEVO, November 8 (FENA) - President of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) Bakir Izetbegović described the statement by French President Emmanuel Macron that “BiH is a ticking time bomb near Croatia” as serious and unfounded.

“Five to six times more French fighters left to the Syrian battlefields than it did from BiH. In BiH, this problem is definitely being addressed. We have come up with complete strategies, we are a member of the Coalition that is very successful in dealing with this problem. In the last four years, no one from BiH has gone to foreign battlefields and seven people have returned, of which only one returned this year, so it can definitely be stated that we have addressed this problem rightly and Macron’s statement is really unfounded,” Izetbegović said.

Izetbegović, referring to the SDA Presidency session that was still under way, said that party had again called on the Office of the High Representative (OHR) to use model of supervisor Raffi Gregorian, who, 11 years ago, in Brčko, abolished salary payments to parliamentarians who had not done their work and adopted the budget.

The SDA called on the OHR to do the same with regard to the BiH Parliamentary Assembly and irresponsible attitude of parliamentarians. Izetbegović, in particular, refers to SNSD parliamentarians who have not yet submitted a proposal to members of parliamentary committees, which is their obligation.

The SDA Presidency also discussed the HJPC which allowed an NGO from Serbia to have information on war crime cases.

“Therefore, something was done that is illegal and against the interests of this country and has caused enormous damage to the BiH judicial system. We believe that it is necessary for those responsible in the HJPC to resign and to initiate proceedings against them,” Izetbegović said.

With regard to the Revised War Crimes Prosecution Strategy, the SDA considers it inadmissible not to include cases from The Hague Tribunal's A-list.

“We have insisted that our representatives in the Council of Ministers work on this, as well as to draw up a plan of regional cooperation that will make it impossible to repeat the things we had before, to escape criminal responsibility by fleeing and going to neighboring countries responsible for the most serious acts of war crime or that they have shorter sentences than those in BiH,” Izetbegović said.

Speaking about the promotion of the book, organized by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Serbia, and denying the crime at the Tuzla Gate, Izetbegović said that this was an insult to the victims, but also a very bad message from Serbia towards BiH.

In today's session, the SDA presidency called for a quicker response to the migrant crisis.
