SARAJEVO, November 7 (FENA) - Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel of Sweden and the Sarajevo Canton Prime Minister Edin Forto visited the Sarajevo Music Academy today to learn about one of their joint energy efficiency projects.

Prime Minister Forto said that the main topic of discussion was environmental protection and energy efficiency, as well as air quality.

"Sweden is in the forefront because they have been dealing with the same issues that we have here. Today, they have renewable energy sources and use much less energy than we do," Forto emphasized, adding that BiH only needs to copy good practices, and the Government of Sweden will help in it.

Representatives from UNDP and the Music Academy hosted the delegation from Sweden and informed them about the work on the insulation of the building. This project is co-financed by the Government of Sweden and the Government of Sarajevo Canton.

Members of the Sarajevo Music High School Orchestra together with their professor and conductor Tijana Vignjević gave a short concert for Princess Victoria.

The purpose of the visit is to highlight the work on insulation of public buildings in Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to achieve energy efficiency. Sweden, through UNDP, supports the insulation of 200 public buildings across the country.

Energy efficiency is still under development in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with public buildings consuming three times more energy than anticipated by European Union standards. More than 75 percent of public buildings have inadequate thermal insulation.

In Sarajevo, 61 public buildings will achieve energy efficient insulation this year thanks to the project co-funded by the Sarajevo Canton and implemented by UNDP. In other parts of the country, Sweden provides 25 percent of funding and local authorities 75 percent.

In Sarajevo, the Canton Government participates with 88 percent and Sweden with 12 percent.
