SARAJEVO, October 30 (FENA) - The National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina today officially completed the "Museum on the Move" project, sponsored by the UNESCO Main State Office in BiH, in partnership with the Museum of Contemporary Art of RS.

During the project, two leading museum institutions in BiH informed the children through the educational programs and workshops about the activities of the museums, their role in society, as well as the various topics that museum experts deal with.

The project was also an opportunity to bring museums closer to girls and boys who do not have the opportunity to visit museum institutions in their cities and municipalities.

For most children, this was the first meeting with museum experts who informed them about their work through workshops and presentations.

Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Republika Srpska Sarita Vujković said that the idea was to connect the two museum institutions to present their work to children coming from schools in 28 municipalities in BiH as part of the “Museum on the Move” project.

From March to October, the project involved 80 schools and more than 3,500 children, Vujković pointed out.

Head of the UNESCO Office in BiH, Siniša Šešum, said that it was a joint project of the National Museum of BiH and the Museum of Contemporary Art of RS.

“The idea was to bring museums closer to children and young people. For them to see that these are not only buildings where exhibits are deposited or displayed, but that these are living institutions that present an important heritage of BiH history,” he emphasized.

The “Museum on the Move project is being implemented under the project “Dialogue for the Future: Towards a fairer society: Promoting social cohesion and diversity in BiH”, implemented by UNESCO, UNDP and UNICEF, in partnership with the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is financed by the United Nations Peacebuilding Support Office/Peacebuilding Fund (PBF).
