KONJIC, October 29 (FENA) - Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Federation of BiH Parliament, Tomislav Martinović, met today in Konjic with the newly appointed Head of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kathleen Kavalec.
Izmir Hadžiavdić, Secretary of the House of Peoples, also attended the meeting.
The collocutors highlighted extremely successful cooperation of the Mission and the highest legislative body in the Federation of BiH, as well as new forms of cooperation that will improve the legislative process and help the engagement of citizens in this process.
Martinović welcomed Ambassador Kavalec to BiH and the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton outlining his views on the political situation in the Federation of BiH and the country, as well as the ways in which the work of the FBiH Parliament could be modernized.
"Bosnia and Herzegovina is a country of three constituent peoples and its citizens and its constitutional structure should be respected. I believe that compromise is a keyword for the continuation of the establishment of power as well as political stability," Martinović said.
Kathleen Kavalec, Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH, agreed that compromise is crucial in all political processes in BiH.
She used the meeting with the leaders of the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament to announce continued cooperation with the House of Peoples in strengthening the capacity of this House and passing of the legislation that would sanction any form of corruption, prevent and sanction conflicts of interest and engage citizens more actively in the legislative process.
To that end, she announced the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the OSCE Mission to BiH and the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH.
