SARAJEVO, October 29 (FENA) - Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Mektić today rejected claims by the Public Broadcasting Service of Republika Srpska (RTRS) and Alternative Television (ATV) which reported that the ministry did not approve the use of the BiH Armed Forces helicopter in firefighting on Mount Romanija.

As he explained at a press conference in Sarajevo, there is documentation showing that after receiving a request from the RS Civil Protection Administration sent on October 27, although the fire broke out on October 23, helicopter use was in fact approved within 20 minutes.

“Such news can cause fear among the residents, which is why I will request from these media outlets to publish a correction and withdraw their statements, and I will also submit a report to the Communications Regulatory Agency (CRA), in which I will ask for the sanctioning of these two broadcasters,” explained Mektić.

He urged the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, but also all security and police bodies, to urgently address and prioritized the issue of attacks and threats against journalists, whose work stands as one of the key pillars of democracy.
