SARAJEVO, October 28 (FENA) - In the next three days, protection and rescue services from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region will test the most modern equipment and cooperation in search and rescue operations in the Brčko District.
This is a field exercise on use of the NICS system, organized by the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the Brčko District Public Safety Department and support of the FBiH Civil Protection Administration.
According to organizers, the exercise is being held in accordance with the 2019 NATO NICS Action Plan for Advanced Regional Coordination in Disasters.
More than 150 trainees, including lifeboat team, diving team, water barrier team, search and rescue team and chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear team, will work on their capabilities and use of the NICS system in case of accidents, as well as on cooperation and exchange of information between various protection and rescue institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina stated.
In addition to representatives of the BiH Ministry of Security, the FBiH Civil Protection Administration, Brčko District Public Security Department, Brčko District Police and other institutions in BiH system of protection and rescue, there are monitors from partner countries and institutions who are also present at the project such as: US Department of Homeland Security and MIT - Lincoln Laboratories from the US, Ministry od Interior from Croatia, Emergency Directorate of Montenegro and Crisis Management Center of North Macedonia, it is said in a statement.
