Conference on Islamic Finance and Economics in Southeast Europe

SARAJEVO, October 25 (FENA) - A conference on Islamic finance and economics in Southeast Europe, "Sarajevo Islamic Finance and Economics" (SIFEC), will be held in Sarajevo today.

The meeting will discuss contemporary issues in the fields of Islamic economics, banking and finance, in particular the issue of financial inclusion and corporate social responsibility of banks, as well as some of the Islamic finance practices in Western developed countries (Norway, Germany), as well as other countries (Indonesia, Turkey, Albania, Malaysia, Nigeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina).

As part of a special panel, researchers from the Oslo Peace Institute will present the first findings of a study on the financial exclusion of minorities in the Nordic countries (FINEX).

The main objective of the conference is to bring together experts in the fields of Islamic economics, banking, and finance, who will present scientific research papers and exchange experiences in this important scientific field.

The conference is organized by the European Association for Islamic Economics, Banking and Finance in cooperation with the Sarajevo School of Economics and Business, University of Sarajevo, Oslo Peace Institute, KT BANK AG, Bosnia Bank International, Islamic Finance Center, University of Bolton, Center for Advanced Studies in Sarajevo, United Bank of Albania, Zaim University of Istanbul and University of Utara in Malaysia.
