ZENICA, October 24 (FENA) - The Expert Service for Development and International Projects of Zenica-Doboj Canton hosted the second workshop under the project entitled Fostering tourism innovation system in Adriatic-Ionian Region (FOST INNO), which aims to promote the region and its potentials.

The participants are ready for a joint appearance on the tourism market, and the European Union has approved 1,266,000 euros for the project.

"This is a transnational project aimed at strengthening innovation capacities, innovative tourism systems," said Vanja Vitezić from the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management at the University of Rijeka (Croatia).

He said that Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina are participating in the project, which will result in the establishment of an Innovative Tourism Center.

"The center will encourage the transfer and sharing of knowledge, encouraging and involving various participants within the system. The aim is to unite all levels - from local, regional, national, supranational, small and medium-sized enterprises, academia ... The aim is to encourage innovation, extend the season, provide quality service," said Vitezić, noting that such cooperation will result in more employment and better wages in the tourism sector of the entire region.

The center will be virtual, through a website, and will have six points - one in each of the participating countries in the project.

"There is no development of tourism without innovative tourism. It is our job to bring this to life. I am proud that over 50 NGO representatives were present today, these are people who have innovative ideas. We thought that we just needed to encourage them and that we all go towards realization together," said Senija Šehanović, external expert of the Expert Service for International Projects of ZDK, who added that the project was tasked to involve the region of central Bosnia.
