FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, October 22 (FENA) - BiH Foreign Minister Igor Crnadak attended the opening of the new Embassy of BiH building in Ankara today.

During the opening ceremony in Ankara, Minister Crnadak said that this act is another proof that we are committed to enhancing relations between BiH and the Republic of Turkey.

The Minister stressed that the main task in the coming period is improving the economy and trade between the two countries. He expressed hope that the work of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly would soon be unblocked in order to ratify the revised Free Trade Agreement between BiH and the Republic of Turkey. It would open the path to an even faster development of economic relations between BiH and Turkey.

"BiH and Turkey have earned one billion KM in foreign trade last year, and I hope that with the implementation of this agreement, we will earn two billion KM in the coming years. BiH will also continue to improve its political relations with the Republic of Turkey, which is an important partner of BiH and the region,” Minister Crnadak said.

The Minister welcomed signing of the protocol on the construction of the Sarajevo-Belgrade motorway and called on Turkish companies to invest in BiH, especially in the areas of infrastructure, agriculture, energy, tourism and food.

Emissary of the Republic of Turkey Sabri Demir, President of the Turkey-BiH parliamentary friendship group of BiH Refik Ozen, Minister of Youth and Sports Mehmet Kasapoglu on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Turkey, Ankara Mayor and numerous representatives of the diplomatic corps in Ankara attended the opening ceremony of the Embassy.

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s embassy building in Ankara was obtained through the succession process of the property of the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY) by the Resolution of the Committee on the Distribution of Diplomatic-Consular Property from 2006.

The renovation of the facility was funded by the Ankara city authorities, PR Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH announced.
