MOSTAR, October 20 (FENA) - Commenting on the fact that authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina have been unable to implement the judgment of the European Court of Human Rights in the Sejdić and Finci case for almost ten years, Dervo Sejdić told FENA that he does not expect the judgment to be implemented any time soon.
“The Sejdić-Finci case is discussed only when politicians and authorities in BiH avoid dialogue on current issues in the socio-economic spheres, on BiH's accession to Euro-Atlantic integration etc. Unfortunately, the international community, especially the Council of Europe and the European Commission, has almost fallen under the influence of domestic politicians, so they organize various meetings both inside and outside the country under the pretext that the Sejdić / Finci judgment is an obligation of BiH politics” Sejdić said.
According to him, all this indicates that BiH is not a serious candidate for EU membership.
22 December marks the entire ten years of Bosnia and Herzegovina failing to implement the ruling of the European Court of Human Rights in the case “Sejdic-Finci vs. BiH”.
The implementation of the judgment would erase constitutional discrimination in BiH and allow members of other nations and minorities to be elected to the BiH Presidency, but also delegated to the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly.
