SARAJEVO, October 18 (FENA) - The BiH Ministry of Security has urged for a long time with the local authorities to provide an adequate location for the establishment of a new migrant reception center in the Una-Sana Canton (USC).
“Unfortunately, the locations proposed so far have been deemed unacceptable by EU representatives and they refused to fund them, citing conditions on the ground or private ownership reasons.
We still expect that an adequate location will be offered as soon as possible, after which the BiH Ministry of Security will, together with partner organizations coordinate and provide accommodation in a new reception center for persons in the Vučjak camp, as well as new migrants that arrive in the area,” the ministry said.
Also, before winter comes, we plan to build another reception center in the vicinity of Sarajevo, in order to further relieve the USC area from the pressure of migrant crisis.
“At the same time, the commitment of the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina is to strengthen the protection and control of the eastern border in order to reduce the entry of illegal migrants. Bosnia and Herzegovina does not want to become the so-called "hot spot" for migrants whose ultimate goal is to go to EU countries,” it is said in a statement from the BiH Ministry of Security.
