BRUSSELS / LUXEMBOURG, October 14 (FENA) - Foreign ministers of the EU member states urged authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina on Monday in Luxembourg to form government at the state level and in the Federation of BiH.
The Council has reiterated its unequivocal commitment to Bosnia and Herzegovina's European perspective as a single, united and sovereign country. Considering that no state and Federation level governments have been formed in Bosnia and Herzegovina since elections held last year, the Council urges Bosnia and Herzegovina once again to form the government without further delay and to start working for the benefit of all citizens, according to the Foreign Affairs Council, which met in Luxembourg today, Hina reports.
The Council also reaffirmed the EU's readiness at this stage to continue implementing the executive mandate of Operation Althea in supporting authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina to maintain a safe and secure environment under a renewed UN mandate.
EUFOR Althea's military operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina was launched in December 2004 and since then has contributed to maintaining a safe and stable environment in the country. Althea was launched following NATO's decision to end the SFOR mission and the adoption of UN Security Council resolution approving the deployment of EU military forces in BiH.
