Salkić: Lies and suppression of truth dominant in our country

FENA Press release

BANJA LUKA, October 13 (FENA) - More than 400 young Bosniaks from Croatia and their friends of other nationalities visited the Veljaci Memorial Center in Bratunac with the message "Never forget", to pay tribute to the victims of the genocide.

The Council of the Bosniak Minority of the City of Zagreb organizes young people from Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, for the thirteenth year in a row, to visit the Veljaci Memorial Center in Bratunac and Potočari Memorial Center near Srebrenica.

Ramiz Salkić, Vice-President of the BiH entity of RS, addressed the visitors and said that this visit was a joint contribution to fostering culture of remembrance of serious crimes and genocide committed against Bosniaks in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“The visit to the memorial centers in Bratunac and Potočari shows your conscience and our connection. We must never forget our painful history in the past centuries, especially in the past 200 years. We are the most persecuted nation in this part of Europe and a nation that is constantly diminishing its living space,” said Salkić.

He added that unfortunately in our country we are dominated by lies and the suppression of truth today.

"Convicted war criminals for genocide, joint criminal enterprise and serious crimes are considered and declared as heroes today. In this entity, convictions for genocide and serious crimes have received the highest entity recognition. These phenomena are proof that evil has not been defeated and that it is still present in our society,” RS Vice-President’s Office said in a statement.

In addition to remembering and fostering a culture of remembrance of crimes committed against the Bosniak people, there is a need and obligation to seek a way to establish good neighborly relations, both in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the region, Salkić added.

“I am particularly pleased to see a large number of young people here today. It shows that the truth about crimes will be passed on through generations. I want to express my appreciation to all the guests of other nationalities who came to Podrinje and who will spread the truth about the greatest crimes in Europe after the Second World War,” Salkić said.

Guests from Croatia were welcomed by representatives of local authorities in Bratunac and survivors' associations from that city.
