SARAJEVO, October 10 (FENA) - Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, Mirko Šarović announced increased controls on meat imports from the EU in the coming period due to the emergence of infectious disease of listeria in some EU member states.
Šarović said today after a meeting with the entity ministers of agriculture that the issue deserves special attention because Bosnia and Herzegovina imports large quantities of beef and veal.
“Also, it is necessary to provide our assistance in order to start the purchase of bulls as soon as possible since there are at least 20,000 ready for slaughter in BiH,” Šarović stated.
He added that they also discussed the agreed meat exports to Turkey, as the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of that country is visiting BiH tomorrow and that he would inform him about the slow pace in preparations by the Turkish side.
