BiH Ombudsman Institution warns about mobbing, instructs victims to seek help

FENA

MOSTAR, October 10 (FENA) - The BiH Ombudsman Institution warns about a large number of persons in BiH who are exposed to mobbing, and anyone who believes he/she is a victim is advised to contact them because complaints filed with the Ombudsman Institution should not result in disciplinary or other sanctions.

In the first eight months of this year, the Ombudsman Institution of BiH received 30 complaints relating to mobbing, which is 10 complaints less than in the same period last year.

Regardless of the numbers, it is not a real indicator of the situation because employees do not seek help or seek judicial protection, FENA learns from the institution.

“The number of complaints received by the BiH Ombudsman Institution is still not an actual indicator of the situation on the ground. This conclusion is reached on the basis of statements made by the parties during interviews, as well as the media writing when the most serious consequences of mobbing are brought to light. The fact is that there are many citizens who are exposed to mobbing today but do not turn to the Ombudsman Institution or seek judicial protection for fear that they may lose their job,” said the Institution.

Persons who feel they have been exposed to mobbing have been instructed to contact the BiH Ombudsman Institution because the procedure is free of charge and the complaint submitted to the Ombudsmen should not result in disciplinary or other sanctions.

“Even if you do not decide to file a complaint, you will receive adequate instructions on what to do to tackle your problem as effectively as possible,” they pointed out.

“We have talked a lot about this problem lately, but our society has not yet developed awareness and mechanisms to prevent it. We will never become a serious and civilized state unless we understand that mobbing is a social problem, not just an individual problem, a problem of a specific victim of mobbing," Anica Ramić, president of the ‘Stop Mobbing’ association, told FENA.
