FENA Vehid Begunić

ZENICA, October 10 (FENA) - Acting manager of the subsidiary company of the Zenica coal mining company, Edin Pašić, told FENA that a protest of miners of Stranjani pit has ended plant and that, in accordance with a decision made two days ago, the process of closing down the pit starts today.

“All the miners have definitely left the pit and only the inspectors are down still down there. Today, we will reassign 165 workers from that facility to the remaining two facilities - 'Stara jama' and 'Raspotočje', as we agreed with the union representatives two days ago,” Pašić said.

He announces that the remaining 55 miners of Stranjani pit will remain there working on the extraction of the equipment, but that coal will no longer be dug because the pit is no longer profitable.

The Zenica Coal Mine Company, which has about 1,500 employees, will produce coal only in the Stara jama and "Raspotočje pits in the coming period. Earlier, also due to unprofitable exploitation, the surface pits "Mošćanica" and "Rača" have also been shut down.
