SARAJEVO, October 8 (FENA) - FBiH Prime Minister Fadil Novalić said today that none of the Banovići miners will lose their jobs.
In a statement for FENA, Novalić said that as of yesterday afternoon, he has received information that the miners in Banovići are worried, as they were told that 1,500 miners would be dismissed.
“It is obvious that in the background is political game in which the FBiH Government does not want and will not participate. I am sorry that individuals who have had benefits from the Banovići Mine deter the miners, who do the most difficult and most honorable job. My message to all miners is that none of them will lose their jobs, and as a proof for my claims, is the decision from the last session of the FBiH Government on October 3, where we gave consent for the admission of 141 workers and instructed the Banovići Mine Administration to continue the application procedure for workers currently employed on a fixed-term contract,” said Novalić.
FBiH Prime Minister recalls that at the end of September, the FBiH Government was informed from the FBiH Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry on the implementation of collective agreement for the mining sector in the FBiH, with several conclusions reached. The initiative of the representative mining trade unions in the FBiH was accepted to extend the application of the collective agreement from December 15, 2017, which expired on September 11, 2019 until approval is reached for the conclusion of a new one. Management of Elektroprivreda BiH Sarajevo is assigned to accelerate the implementation of the FBiH Government's Conclusion of August 22, 2019 together with the Management Board of brown coal mine "Banovići", d.d. Banovići in order to form a joint team to start and hold consultations with representatives of trade unions to prepare negotiations for the conclusion of amendments to the current collective agreement.
“I ask miners not to be deceived by political provocations, because the FBiH Government will continue to work on improving the working conditions, as well as higher incomes of miners,” said Prime Minister Novalić.
