SARAJEVO, October 7 (FENA) - BiH Presidency Chairman and member Željko Komšić and Šefik Džaferović received today UN Under-Secretary-General and Special Advisor of the Secretary-General on the Prevention of Genocide Adama Dieng.
Members of the BiH Presidency welcomed the Special Advisor of the UN Secretary-General and expressed their support for activities and commitment to the UN goals.
The UN Secretary-General's Special Advisor expressed satisfaction with his visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, reaffirmed the UN's interest in the Western Balkans, and outlined a plan to visit BiH as the head of the UN hate speech team.
He confirmed that his mission is to build peace in BiH and strengthen confidence, environment of tolerance and mutual respect.
At the same time, they discussed the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and financing the development, which is a shared vision of UN members on sustainable peace and prosperity.
The topic of the meeting was cooperation with the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals, and in this context it was said that the only way to reconciliation is the truth about crimes committed in BiH.
Cooperation with the UN Office and the UNDP in BiH was assessed as very successful, wishing to be further enhanced in the coming period.
On behalf of BiH Presidency member Milorad Dodik, the meeting was attended by councilor Nina Sajić, the BiH Presidency stated.
