SARAJEVO, October 4 (FENA) - The statement issued today by the Russian Embassy saying that “one nation in BiH is against NATO”, is goes against all common sense and logic, said today the BiH Presidency Chairman Željko Komšić.
“As far as we can understand from the statement, it is obvious that they are referring to the Serb people in BiH. The fact that this is a completely wrong logic that the Russian Embassy follows is best demonstrated by the relentless statistics of the departure of not only young people but entire families from BiH, and therefore from the entity of RS as well,” said Komšić today.
In a statement to FENA, he said that all those people leaving BiH, among other things, because of a constant feeling of insecurity and uncertainty, and which certainly would not exist if BiH was already in NATO, are departing in the largest numbers precisely to NATO member countries.
“If the people in the entity of RS had a negative attitude towards NATO, they would probably choose countries other than NATO members when deciding to leave their homeland to live in a safer place for them and their families. Therefore, people in BiH, including those in RS have nothing against NATO. Milorad Dodik is against NATO, for the reasons known to him alone, and to perhaps a narrow circle of people close to him,” said Komšić.
According to Komšić, Dodik’s reasons have nothing to do with the fundamental need of the people in BiH for security, stability, and any kind of certainty.
“This is all true for us in Sarajevo, Mostar, Travnik, Bihać, Tuzla, but also for our fellow countrymen, people in Banja Luka, Trebinje, Lukavica, Doboj, Bijeljina…
Therefore, our dear friends from the embassy of a great and friendly country of Russia, if you wish us well, as you say you do, it would be a good idea for you to stick to what Mr. Lavrov, Russia's foreign minister, said during one of his past visits, that "Russia in principle is against NATO enlargement, but if NATO is the choice of us in BiH, then Russia will respect that,” concluded Komšić.
