SARAJEVO, September 25 (FENA) - Islamic Tourism Center of Malaysia and Tourism Malaysia, which operates under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture of the country, organized a seminar on tourism today in cooperation with Sarajevo Halal Fair (SHF) 2019.
The event of this kind is organized for the first time in Bosnia and Herzegovina and represents a unique opportunity to get to know Malaysia as a Muslim friendly country, but also to exchange experiences and establish cooperation between tourism professionals.
Dato 'Sri Abdul Khani Daud, Director General of Islamic Tourism Center, shared the rich experience Malaysia has in the field of halal tourism. He pointed out that halal tourism has many potentials, but also faces many challenges.
“There are currently 1.8 billion Muslims in the world, of which 255 million are in Asia. A large number of them have visited BiH, which brings with them additional motivation for Asian people to come to BiH. Muslim tourists are most attracted to Muslim friendly services, attractions, events and infrastructure. Muslim tourists want halal hotels and restaurants, tours of Islamic attractions such as mosques, museums, parks, events such as conferences and seminars or the organization of iftars. BiH has a lot of potential in this field and we are ready to help develop it,” Daud said.
Talking about challenges of halal tourism, Dato'Sri Abdul Khani Daud pointed out that he still believes that investing in halal tourism is not profitable and still does not have much importance of this type of tourism.
