FBiH Parliament's HoR adopts Bill on Environmental Protection Act

SARAJEVO, September 24 (FENA) - House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament adopted Bill on Environmental Protection Act today, which provides financial penalties ranging from 500 KM to 50,000 KM, for all legal and private entities.

The Act aims at reduced use, prevention of pollution, prevention of damage, as well as improvement and restoration of the damaged environment, and protection of health, including the right to a healthy life, conservation and protection of natural resources and their rational use. 

Among the reasons for adopting Environmental Protection Act are preservation, protection, restoration and improvement of ecological quality and capacity of the environment, as well as the quality of life, management measures and conditions, conservation and rational use of natural resources.

Environmental Protection Act introduces new provisions that are very important for environmental protection, such as shortening of environmental permit deadlines. It regulates the issue of renewal of the environmental permit, which has not been the case so far, and its provisions provide basis for drafting bylaws defining categories of machinery and facilities, as well as the competence to act.

In addition, in the form of a draft, the House of Representatives adopted the text of the Law on Amendments to the Law on Police Officers, which is stated to be a good basis for drafting a proposal.
