BANJA LUKA, September 17 (FENA) - BiH Foreign Minister Igor Crnadak believes that our country has strong arguments and detailed explanation against the intention of the Republic of Croatia to dispose of nuclear waste from the Krško Nuclear Power Plant right on the border with BiH, near the municipality of Novi Grad / Bosanski Novi.
After talks with the RS Minister of Physical Planning, Construction and Ecology Srebrenka Golić in Banja Luka, on the problem of the disposal of radioactive waste in Trgovska gora, Crnadak said that all levels of government in BiH worked together to prevent the disposal of waste at the location.
He announced talks with foreign ministers from Croatia and Slovenia, as well as with the Secretary General of the IAEA to point to this problem.
“BiH must use all available opportunities and mechanism to try to prevent Croatia’s decision,” he said.
Minister Golić once again urged Croatian authorities to change the decision and choose one of the seven locations that had been foreseen in earlier documents for the disposal of nuclear waste.
She informed the Minister with steps that have been taken so far, including the decision of the RS Government proclaiming territory along the Una River as nature park, bordering the Una National Park in the Federation of BiH, which will protect the entire course of the Una River.
That, he says, is another mechanism in BiH's fight against Croatia's intention of disposing of nuclear waste in Trgovska gora.
