Komšić: There is no civil state as long as ethnic politics dominate in BiH

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, September 15 (FENA) - BiH Presidency Chairman and DF President Željko Komšić commented on one of the SDA's program goals, which is being evaluated by public as a request for the establishment of a civil state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Komšić points out that there is no civil state as long as ethnic politics dominate in Bosnia and Herzegovina, stated the office of the BiH Presidency Chairman Željko Komšić.

“The path to a civil state can only be achieved by weakening the ethnic in favor of civil concept, which is an aspiration for equality of all citizens and of course part of European standards. After all, it is a somewhat longer process, which is inevitable,” Komšić said.

However, he adds that only by rejecting the backward ethnic-constitutive principle, and implementing judgments of the European Court of Human Rights, as well as the recommendations and measures of the European Commission's Opinion, more meaningful policy can be led based on the idea of a civil state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
