LONDON/SARAJEVO, September 11 (FENA) - The UK is giving full support to Bosnia and Herzegovina's path to NATO, BiH Presidency Chairman Željko Komšić, who visited the United Kingdom yesterday, told FENA.
“This is known from before, and it is only further confirmed. I was convinced during the meetings that we had, and above all I refer to the discussions with the UK Ministry of Defense. I believe that this support will be even stronger in the future,” he said.
Yesterday, Komšić attended a thanksgiving service for former High Representative in BiH Paddy Ashdown, and BiH Presidency member Milorad Dodik commented that the presence of the was not on behalf of the BiH Presidency, "nor was his visit to the UK on behalf of the BiH Presidency."
“Paddy Ashdown was remembered here as an international offender, who, in his term of office, overlooked all positive and domestic and international legal acts,” Dodik said yesterday.
Komšić commented on this statement.
“As for Mr. Dodik, I heard that he was speaking very inappropriately and undiplomatically yesterday about Britain and the late Lord Ashdown. This is not good. However, when it comes to the character of the visit, there is nothing disputable. Members of the BiH Presidency have official as well as working visits,” said Komšić.
He emphasizes that Dodik used such a visit to meet with the former Vice-Chancellor of Austria, then-president of the far-right Freedom Party Heinz-Christian Strache.
“Who knows why he’s bothered by my visit to Britain?!” Komšić told FENA.
