LONDON, September 10 (FENA) - Raisu-l-ulama of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina Husein ef. Kavazović attended the memorial service in memory of the late Lord Jeremy John Durham Ashdown of Norton-sub-Hamdon today on his official visit to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
At the request of the late Lord's family, Raisu-l-ulama attended commemoration organized at Westminster Abbey in the presence of a large number of British officials and members of the royal family.
“Lord Ashdown is certainly someone who worked in the interest of our country and all its citizens. He showed that the international community can play a constructive role in the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Raisu-l-ulama Kavazović told MINA, noting that he considers this invitation a special honor that the family asked him to recite several verses from the Qur'an at the memorial, which he did in the Bosnian language.
During his visit, Raisu-l-ulama will have more meetings with officials in the UK government, representatives of non-governmental and religious organizations, including Minister of Religion and Community Lord Viscount Younger of Leckie. He will also meet with the Secretary of State for Commonwealth and the UN and the Prime Minister's Special Envoy on Freedom of Religion or Belief, Lord Ahmad, who is also the British Prime Minister's Special Representative on Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict.
