SARAJEVO, September 10 (FENA) – The FBiH Finance Minister Jelka Milićević said analyses at the Federation of BiH Tax Administration and the Ministry of Finance have shown that it is justified to amend or extend the default interest law.

Amendments to the Law on the Default Interest Rate on Public Revenues has been so far discussed at the session of the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament.

“The law on penalty interest was previously in force and temporal in nature. Our law on the write-off of default interest due to the settlement within a certain period of its tax liabilities expired on May 5 this year and after analysis in the FBiH Tax Administration and the Ministry of Finance, we think that the improvement of the business environment will be upheld if we extend that law to December 31, 2020,” said Milićević.

According to her, the analysis showed that this incentive measure, in the past 1.5 years of the law, collected KM 84 million in tax liabilities and stimulated tax payers to settle their tax debt.
